Job Requirements/
This is an entry-level full time professional research assistant (PRA) position in the Nutrition Core of the Colorado Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CCTSI) which provides research and training infrastructure as well as core technology resources designed to enhance clinical and basic sciences, promote research excellence, and train the next generation of clinical/translational scientists. The purpose of the position is to provide expert nutritional support and weighed, metabolic meals for investigators with CCTSI research protocols. It is anticipated that this position will spend approximately 50% time in the diet office and 50% time in the metabolic kitchen, producing diets.

Examples of Work Performed:

" Metabolic diet weighing and production

" Ordering food and consumables for kitchen operations, budget tracking

" Maintain and update food inventories and databases

" Calculation of protocol- and subject-specific diets which meet all study targets (ProNutra software)

" Data entry

" Conduct dietary intake measurements via 24h food recall, food frequency questionnaires, and diet diaries, including participant instruction

" Conduct participant data collection visits including anthropometric measurements in adults and children

" Analyze nutrient intake data

" Develop and implement study-specific educational materials

" Review and implementation of new CTRC protocols

" Act as an interface between the Nutritionists, kitchen staff, and investigators/study PRAs

" Participant scheduling

" Review of relevant literature and performance of literature searches

" Day-to-day administrative tasks for the CCTSI Nutrition Core

" Other duties as requested by the Nutrition Research Director

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, Nutrition, or related field

· Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)

· Superior communication and organizational skills

· Must be able to work independently following training

Preferred Qualifications:

" Research experience

" Food service experience

" Medline (PubMed) familiarity

" Ability to interpret scientific literature
